North South Ladies Amateur Golf Association Challenge Cup
March 23-25, Saturday and Sunday
Crown Colony, Lufkin TX
Committee: LAGA and STXLAGA Boards
Teams: The Challenge will consist of 32 players, sixteen representing LAGA and sixteen representing STXLAGA. Each individual will sign up through EVITE. There will be two EVITE’s sent six weeks before the event, one for the North Team and one for the South Team. The 16 lowest GHIN indexes as of March 9, 2018, two weeks before the competition will make each team. An Alternates list will be established by indexes. Once teams have been determined each player will be emailed more information about Team Attire, housing, etc.
Format: Four-Ball Match Play, gross only competition. Four-ball match play is where two players play their better ball against the better ball of two other players. Each match will compete for one total point on each hole. If a hole is halved, each side will receive a half point. The total points available for each match is 18 points. As a reminder this is a gross only event.
During the competition, each team will be paired from the low GHIN index to the highest GHIN index. This will ensure similar handicaps are competing against one another. Round one, seeds #1 & #2 play each other, #3 & #4 and so on. Round two matches will shift, so the #1 & #3 seeds will play each other, #2 & #4, #5 & 7, #6 & #8 and so on.
At the end of the competition the team who has earned the most cumulative gross points is the North South Challenge Cup winner.
Competition: Two-day Tournament with an optional practice round. Friday, March 23rd practice round tee times all day. Saturday, March 24th will be a 1:00 p.m. Shotgun Start, Sunday, March 25th will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

See you there!
Thanks to the member support of STXLAGA, we made charitable contributions to two great initiatives this year!
STXLAGA contributed a gift of $1,050 to the Texas Golf Association “Breaking 100” Campaign, $350 supporting STXLAGA Members Karen Northcutt, Donna Brady and Terry Dukes. These players have committed to playing 100 holes of competition in 2016 and highlighting the competitive opportunities available for women in Texas.
The Women’s Texas Golf Association was founded 100 years ago to host a State Amateur Championship. Since the inaugural State Amateur in 1916, the TGA has added six other championships designed to offer players of all ability levels from all over the State to test their game, achieve their goals, and learn from other great competitors.
We also contributed $350 to the TGA Foundation Junior Girls Travel Fund. This program was established in 1986 to offset expenses for girls residing in Texas, age 17 and under, who qualify for the US Girls Junior National Championship. The Nez Muhleman Golf Tournament better known as “The Nezzie” was held on June 7, 2016 at Riverbend Country Club and is the main fundraiser for the Travel Fund. If you are interested in making a donation to the Travel Fund contact Ellen Earle at elle2@gmail.com.
