The state of Texas has a new Tournament for competitive women golfers. Board members of LAGA and STXLAGA approved a friendly challenge between each organization. The challenge will be known as the North South.

The Inaugural event takes place on August 5-6, 2016 at Crown Colony in Lufkin, Texas. We are so pleased to play at Crown Colony, it is a wonderful golf course and a hidden jewel in East Texas, said Lynn Keefe, President of LAGA. The Challenge will consist of forty players, twenty representing LAGA and twenty representing STXLAGA.  This should be fun and social, as well as competitive, stated Julie Robichaux, President of STXLAGA.

Members of LAGA and of STXLAGA will compete in a Four-Ball Match Play, gross only competition. Four-ball match play is where two players play their better ball against the better ball of two other players.  Each match will compete for one total point on each hole. If a hole is halved, each side will receive a half point. The total points available for each match are 18 points.

Thanks to Member Support – STXLAGA contributes $1000 to Charitable Organizations

Thanks to the member support of STXLAGA, we made charitable contributions to two great organizations this year!

We contributed a gift of $500 to the TGA Alliance Campaign. The Alliance Campaign and its annual fundraiser, the Alliance Cup Tournament, were initiated in 2007 to find new ways to use the game of golf to enrich the lives of young girls. Junior Golf initiatives for girls and WTGA Scholarships are totally funded by and dependent upon the Alliance Campaign and Alliance Cup. Log on to TGA.org or http://www.txga.org/wtga-alliance.html for more information.

We also contributed $500 to the TGA Foundation Junior Girls Travel Fund. This program was established in 1986 to offset expenses for girls residing in Texas, age 17 and under, who qualify for the US Girls Junior National Championship.  The Nez Muhleman Golf Tournament better known as “The Nezzie” will be held on June 23, 2015 at Riverbend Country Club and is the main fundraiser for the Travel Fund.  If you are interested in participating in the Annual “Nezzie” Golf Tournament contact Ellen Earle at elle2@gmail.com.
